Get Back Here 2 Overview

Get Back Here 2 is designed to allow you to record a location anywhere and later to point you back to that location from anywhere else.

Get Back Here 2 does not rely on an Internet or cell phone connection to do it's work. It can provide directions from anywhere on Earth.

Before starting out the user simply needs to save their current location in Get Back Here 2. That can be accomplished by:

Later when they are lost or disoriented they can use Get Back Here to show them the exact direction and distance back to their starting point.

Get Back Here can store an unlimited number of locations for the user to get back to. The user can even enter the latitude and longitude for locations anywhere on Earth and get instant direction and distance to them.

Getting Back To A Location: To get the direction and distance to a location you have saved, do the following:
  1. From the Main screen press the Get Back to Location button.

  2. You are shown a scrollable list of all the locations in your selected locations group.

    Each listing includes:

  3. From the scrolling list of saved locations click on the destination you would like to get back to.

    You are shown:

At any time you can choose from the top menubar:

Location Groups: You can save your locations into convenient groups. Groups can be created, renamed and deleted. You can also move locations between groups.
Saving My Location: To save your current location into Get Back Here follow these steps:
  1. From the Main screen press the Save My Location button.

  2. Enter a descriptive name for your current location (i.e. Cabin, Campsite, Parking Lot, etc.)

  3. If you wish, choose a group to save your location into. Click on the group name and then choose the group from the selection wheel at the bottom.

  4. Add any kind of description or notes in the Desc window. Text can be pasted from other sources into here.

  5. Wait for the Accuracy gauge to move into the green zone. This may take a few moments while your iPhone collects data from GPS satellites. You can save the location at any time, but the accuracy will be less if the gauge is not in the green zone.

  6. Press the Save button.

  7. Press the OK button to confirm.

Your current location is now saved in Get Back Here 2.

Note: When in areas with no cell service it is recommended to power off your iPhone in order to save power. Cell phones use much more power searching for cellular service than when they are connected to it.

You will always get better and more accurate readings if you are outdoors and away from anything that causes magnetic interference (i.e. other electronic devices, automobiles, power lines, etc.). You will also get better results if you are in a wide open space clear of trees and/or buildings.

Add A Location: You can manually add a location by either using a map, or by manually entering coordinates.
Reading the compass: The compass screen displays a magnetic compass with a pointer. The red pointer indicates the direction to the destination you have selected. (Hold your iPhone parallel to the ground as you would when holding a normal compass).

The pointer will rotate to always point in the direction of your destination. For reference the compass also indicates the four cardinal directions (North, South, East and West) found on a normal compass. These are accurate and may be used for navigation.

Above the compass is the name of your destination. Below that is your current distance to the destination. This updates in realtime.

Below the compass is your current latitude, longitude and altitude. These update in realtime.

Click on the i nformation button to get more detailed information on both the destination and your current location.

Location Details: This screen shows the same information as the compass screen but as text:
Maps: The maps screen allows you to view your locations on a map. The screen may be slightly different depending on where you accessed the map from:
